Frostbites over – all hail the Spring!

The winter season was interesting for the Dun Laoghaire OK Dinghies for a bunch of bad reasons. First, the skipper of “Beastie” was out of action for the season due to unrelated injuries. Then the “Milky Bar Kid” suffered damage and was out of action for a while as repairs were done so Beastie stepped in as the backup boat. And then as the skipper of Beastie got ready to return to action the skipper of MBK broke a toe and was out of action for the end of the season, dropping Beastie – which he’d been sailing – off the podium for the year due to a series of DNCs counting in the score.

Despite all this, it was a busy sailing season. Beastie was on the water a lot and finally took 4th place overall in the 27 strong PY fleet of the DMYC Frostbite series. (Results here)  Plus, she was the prettiest boat on the water by a long way!

The summer season starts in a month which should give time for all the skippers and boats to be repaired. We hope – finally – to see both boats on the water at the same time on a regular basis.

See you out there!

About the site

The IOKDA (Irish OK Dinghy Association) website is hosted on Wordpress.com.

The aim of the site is multiple; to increase visibility of the OK Dinghy in Ireland, to create a central communications point for OK dinghy sailors - and those interested in the OK Dinghy - on the island of Ireland, to create a communications point for OK Dinghy sailors in other countries, and to be available for non-sailors to understand the OK Dinghy and the activities in Ireland.

The IOKDA will maintain this site for the foreseeable future. We may someday decide to move to our own domain. If so, this site will be permanently maintained as a redirect notice.

Whether you call an OK DInghy an OK-Jolle or an OK-Jol or anything else, this site aims to have useful info. However, note that the information here is not offered with ANY guarantee of accuracy. Check all event information with the event organizers. Check all supplier information with the suppliers. And so on.
